Xbox One, original model (1540) repair
Model 1540 is the first, large Xbox One, the one with the separate power brick. That brick is behind many of the "dead console" calls we get.
- Model number 1540
- Sold 2013 to 2016
- Where to find the number On the label on the underside: "Model 1540".
Faults we repair on the 1540
- No power. Often the external power brick and not the console; we test both.
- Black screen. HDMI port or the signal chip beside it.
- Disc drive not reading. Laser or mechanism.
- Stuck on the green start-up screen. A failing hard drive.
- Overheating and shutting down. Dust and dried thermal paste.
Good to know about this model
Look at the light on the power brick. White or orange means the brick is alive; no light, or a flashing one, means the brick has failed. Bring it with the console.
