Frequently asked questions
Short answers to what people ask us most before a repair. If your question is not here, send us an enquiry: advice by phone and email is free.
Where are you and when are you open?
Our workshop is at Unit 1, The Willows, 80 Willow Walk, London SE1 5SY. You can walk in Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm. We also have a drop-off point at 21 Village Way, Beckenham BR3 3NA, by appointment only: call 020 8658 4366 to book.
How much does a diagnosis cost?
A bench diagnostic is £54. If you go ahead with the repair, the £54 is deducted from your bill.
How much will my repair cost?
It depends on the fault and the model, so we give you a price after the diagnostic and before any work starts. As a guide, laptop screen replacement starts from £135 + VAT and data recovery from £79 + VAT.
How long does a repair take?
Many standard repairs are finished within 24 to 48 hours of you approving the quote. Repairs that need a part ordered, or board-level work, take longer; we tell you the expected time with the quote.
I am not in London. Can you still help?
Yes. We collect and return by insured courier anywhere in the UK. Call us to arrange a collection and we will tell you the cost for your postcode.
What do you repair?
- Laptops and desktop PCs of all major brands, including gaming models
- Apple Mac: MacBook, iMac, Mac mini and Mac Pro
- Servers and NAS units
- Games consoles: PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo
- Hard drives, SSDs, USB drives and memory cards, for data recovery
Is the repair guaranteed?
Repairs carry a three-month back-to-base warranty. The cover for each part is confirmed on your quote.
Will I lose my files?
Most hardware repairs do not touch your files. Even so, back up before you hand over any computer if it still starts. If it does not start, tell us that your files matter and we will discuss saving them before anything else is done.
My drive has failed. Can you get my data back?
Often, yes. Data recovery starts from £79 + VAT for straightforward cases; drives with physical damage are opened in our cleanroom and cost more. Stop using the drive as soon as you notice a problem: every further attempt to start it can make recovery harder.
Is my old computer worth repairing?
If the repair costs more than half the price of an equivalent replacement, it usually is not, unless the machine runs software you cannot move. We will tell you honestly after the diagnostic. An SSD and extra memory often give an older machine several more useful years.
Can I try to fix it myself first?
Yes, and many faults can be fixed at home. Start with our free repair tips for Windows, macOS, Linux and hardware.
