Recovering deleted files and formatted drives
Deleting a file or formatting a drive does not wipe the data straight away. It marks the space as free, and the files stay until something new is written over them.
What you need to know
- Stop using the drive. Every new file saved can overwrite an old one.
- Do not install recovery software on it. Installing is writing. Use another computer, or let us do it.
- SSDs are different. Many SSDs erase deleted data in the background within minutes, so speed matters most here.
- What we recover. Documents, photos, email and accounts files, with names and folders where the file system allows.
