Faults we repair on the CUH-7000
- Very loud fan. Thermal paste that has dried out and a heatsink full of dust. Cleaning and re-pasting brings the noise right down.
- White light but no picture. A damaged HDMI port or a failed HDMI chip on the main board; both are board-level repairs.
- Shuts down during games. Overheating, or a tired power supply.
- Disc drive faults. Reading and eject problems.
- Hard drive failure. Replaced, with an SSD as an option.
Good to know about this model
If the fan roars within a minute of starting a game, do not keep playing through it: the heat that the fan is fighting is what eventually damages the board.
