PlayStation 5, smaller 2023 model (CFI-2000 series) repair

The CFI-2000 is the smaller PlayStation 5 with the detachable disc drive. It shares most of its faults with the original, plus one of its own.

Faults we repair on the CFI-2000

• Disc drive not recognised. The clip-on drive has to pair with the console; a failed pairing, a bent connector or a faulty drive all look the same from the sofa.
• Damaged HDMI port. No picture or a flickering one. We replace the port.
• Front USB-C ports. Loose or dead after a cable has been pulled sideways.
• Overheating. Dust build-up in a tighter case.
• No power. Power supply or main board.

Good to know about this model

If you bought the digital version and added a drive later, bring both parts. We test the drive on another console to see which one is at fault.
