HP Pavilion 15 repair

The Pavilion 15 is one of the best-selling home laptops in the UK. One fault outnumbers all the others on it: the hinges.

• Where to find the number On the underside label: "HP Pavilion Laptop 15-eg0xxx". The letters after "15-" are what matter.

• Broken hinge. The hinge tears out of the plastic lid or base, and the case splits open at the corner. We rebuild the mounting or replace the part.
• Not charging. A loose or broken charging socket.
• Very slow. Older models have a mechanical hard drive; an SSD transforms them.
• Keyboard faults. Dead keys, usually after a spill.
• Cracked screen. New panel fitted.

Good to know about this model

If the lid has started to creak or the corner gapes when you open it, stop opening it fully. Caught early, a hinge repair is far cheaper than a new lid and screen.
