Custom-built and gaming PCs repair
A custom PC is a set of separately made parts, and a fault in one can look like a fault in another. Finding which part has failed is most of the job.
- Models Any make of parts
- Sold Any age
- Where to find the number There is no single model number. The parts list from the builder, or the labels on the motherboard and graphics card, tell us what is inside.
Faults we repair on the custom PC
- Will not start, or starts with no picture. Power supply, motherboard, memory or graphics card, tested one at a time.
- Crashes in games. Overheating, a tired power supply or faulty memory.
- Graphics card faults. Artefacts, black screens and fans that do not spin.
- Liquid-cooling faults. A failed pump or a leak.
- Upgrades. Graphics card, processor, memory and storage, with a check that the power supply can cope.
Good to know about this model
Most parts in a custom PC carry their own maker warranty, often three years or more. Once we know which part has failed, we can tell you whether a claim is worth making.
